Taking the strain out of cleanroom mopping
Foamtec International has this week introduced PharmaMop, said to be the cleanroom industry's lightest weight mop for cleaning and disinfecting aseptic manufacturing areas. At just 485 grams, it allows ceiling, wall and floor cleaning without strain. Key design elements include a patent-pending mop head that assures compliance with contact time Standard Operating Procedures when applying disinfectants in cleanrooms.
'Customers are excited about PharmaMOP's control and ease of use it affords the operator in applying disinfectants to walls, ceilings and non-skid flooring,' says Brian Thaler, VP of Marketing for Foamtec International.
This is backed up by customers such as US company Controlled Contamination Services, whose Operations Manager Nam Chantepie reports:
'At a major pharmaceutical customer, PharmaMop replaced expensive and heavy string mops, rewashable flat mops and foam mops which has eased training and improved SOP compliance.'
Central to PharmaMop's performance is a patent-pending mop head constructed of cleanroom foam enclosed in cleanroom polyester or microfibre fabric. This tri-layer design eliminates the need for a wringer and enables operators to apply the proper amount of disinfectant to better comply with decontamination SOPs. According to John Lindsay, President of the Aseptic Training Institute:
'It is common for pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers to need multiple mopping systems but PharmaMop's light weight and large surface area allows them to consolidate mop types, easing operator training and SOP compliance.'
Linda Vereycken, CEO of Belgian company Cleaning Consumables & Services, is impressed with the mop too. 'European Pharmaceutical manufacturers have requested a lightweight ergonomic solution,' she explains.'Existing mops, being so heavy, hinder operators in properly implementing cleaning SOP's. The PharmaMop system will be a benefit to our customers.'
