SUPREME COURT WIN FOR CENTRAL : Cleaning News
SUPREME COURT WIN FOR CENTRAL
Central Window Cleaning Ltd. has, in a modest way, become a small part of UK Constitutional History.
On October 1st, 2009, judicial authority was transferred away from The House of Lords in favour of a Supreme Court for the United Kingdom. The physical buildings of the Supreme Court form part of a pre-existing quadrangle made up of the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and the Treasury.
Having successfully tendered for the Supreme Court High Level Cleaning Contract against the usual stiff competition, Central came out on top. Perhaps this was, in part, due to current work being carried out by Central on a number of Ministry of Justice (MOJ) properties, such as the recently refurbished 102 Petty France Building.
Paul Trott, Senior Regional Manager with Central, said: ‘The selection and security vetting of operatives to be used on the MOJ portfolio was detailed and we were pleased that we had a 100% clearance rate on the window cleaning operatives we submitted.’
This reflects well on Central’s recruitment systems, and indicates the company’s careful selection of new members of staff.
Commercial Director Kenny Benmore said: ‘The proceedings of The Supreme Court are filmed, and sometimes broadcast. It’s the only court in the United Kingdom to allow this, so we aim to make sure the natural light coming through those Centrally Cleaned windows is always at its best!’
The design of the building presented Central with a number of challenges that determined the nature of the access equipment required. ‘Selection of the correct equipment has been a crucial part of our works start up,’ said Kenny. ‘We have to make sure we operate to the highest standards of safety, and compliance with statutory law is obviously especially important on this particular property!’
